I have a pile of updates waiting to get uploaded, but this one was too good to wait.

Merkin

We headed out to Carter’s place yesterday for his pirate / merkin themed party. It was everything you’d have expected it to be – cocktails, merkins, inflatable women, a mile long Slip-n-Slide, and a few games of Flip Cup. The morning of the party, Tara burst into a fit of creativity and knocked these two out with no effort, along with a few others. Check here for the slideshow of images, here’s a few of the best ones:

I just got a little package from Draplin with some Field Notes. They’re kickass notebooks that are already getting put to use. Everything about them is just right, down to the love we share for the font Futura. Go get some.

Field Notes

Speaking of worthwhile Draplin creations, this is another one to put in your arsenal.

We saw Slayer the other night, excellent as always. They co-headlined with Marylin Manson which made for two very clear camps in the crowd. I wanted to like the Manson show but we only made it through 5 or 6 songs and ended up leaving. Watching the scene any time before the show where people randomly scream out "Slayyyyyer" and then others randomly scream it back is almost as good as watching the show itself. No other crowd gets as amped up as it does for these shows.

Kickass chick cover band for the Misfits. I can’t figure out if the Doyle look-alike is a dude or a chick.

BJ’s just got the 2007 model of the Changetron 1. My first iPhone pic downloaded to my computer…

Speaking of the iPhone, check out the auto-complete feature for filling out text:

So far, the iPhone is everything it’s hyped up to be even though I have to deal with AT&T, the cell company I swore I would never have an account with again. The internet access alone makes this thing worth it.

Despite all signs showing that this show was going to suck due to pouring rain (with a venue that’s half outdoor) and plenty of other issues, it was as good a Social D show as ever. They’re one of the only bands that could be around this long and just keep getting better. I could see them every day of the week.

I’m sitting here at work waiting for Tara to get here to go to our now-semi-annual Social Distortion show. Can’t wait.

We’ve been so busy we’ve hardly spent any time at the beach this summer. Last weekend was time to get back on it.

We had the whole beach to ourselves, except for this fox.

Jilly has found her way to get a lot of excercise in her small yard:
